Accessibility and Inclusion

Wheelchair access

The Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism has wheelchair access. The entrance has a threshold of 3cm height and an electric door opener. Our staff at the information desk will be happy to help you with access.
There are two lifts. Accessible toilets are located on the ground floor and on the first basement level. Folding chairs and a wheelchair are available in the foyer. In the Learning Centre on the first basement level visitors can sit in front of monitors and view all the pictures and texts from the exhibition. Admission to the Learning Centre is free.

For the blind and visually impaired

Tactile maps of the documentation centre introducing the permanent exhibition are available in braille and cuneiform script on the ground floor. There are braille orientation aids on the frames of all exhibition elements and on the handrails. The website can be displayed in black and white by clicking on a button on the left-hand side of the page (under the main navigation bar). The font size can also be adjusted. Further facilities for the blind and the visually impaired are in preparation.

For the hearing impaired and the deaf

The auditorium and some of the seminar rooms have sound enhancement systems. Visitors with hearing aids can borrow portable induction loops compatible with our media guides and our audio guide system at the service desk in the foyer. Further facilities for the hearing impaired and the deaf are in preparation.

Easy to Read and Easy to Understand

A free exhibition audio guide is available in "Easy-to-Read" language. You can buy a booklet about the exhibition in simple language in the museum shop. Simple language guided tours and seminars are available for groups. Please call beforehand or send an e-mail to: vermittlung.nsdoku (at), telephone +49 89 - 233 67007.
