Tell me about yesterday tomorrow

In collaboration with the internationally renowned curator Nicolaus Schafhausen, the Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism will present the project “Tell me about yesterday tomorrow”, which brings contemporary artistic positions into an exchange with the institution’s concern, function and mission to deal with and address collective memory. An array of international artists will conceive and realise new works for the  wide-ranging exhibition and programme, which not only refers to the complex realities and treatment of German history in the twentieth-century, but also to current connections with manifold global realities. Alongside new commissions, a range of contemporary works presented will serve as invitations to explore the multi-layered narratives of our recent past, and focus on topics such as language in public discourse, political rhetoric and aesthetic forms of staging.

The interdisciplinary project “Tell me about yesterday tomorrow” will be on view from November 28, 2019, until August 30, 2020. In the spring of 2020, an accompanying multi-day discursive program will take place in public space, activating the exhibition by means of theoretical, performative and participatory formats.

Opening of the exhibition: Wednesday, November 27, 2019, 7 pm
